I think it was terrible but only because I'm holding it to a higher standard of entertainment. In comparison to previous Sherlock's, season 4 was terrible. Was it a terrible show, no. I enjoyed the acting and sat through 4 and a half hours of this season so I was obviously entertained. After seven seasons, Elementary has finally come to an end. The Sherlock Holmes adaptation placed Holmes and Watson in present-day New York, envisioning Jonny Lee Miller's Sherlock as a recovering drug addict and Lucy Liu's gender-swapped Joan Watson as his live-in "sober companion." Although the showrunners deliberately set up season 6 as a satisfying conclusion to their series, they were
Personally, I loved the 1st season but it quickly went downhill from there. It started as a bright and entertaining show with a quirky but likeable main character, gripping plot and rather clever writing. However, season 4 was really dark and sometimes even illogical. Sherlock became super-emotional too which I felt was out of character.
Sherlock Series/Season 3 Episodes 1 and 2 were incomparably wonderful, nonpareil storytelling in an expanding Sahara of television. We'll get to episode 3. The story keeps halting like a bad performer who over-emotes and then stops to await applause from the audience each time. Or a rimshot after a comic's not-terribly-funny punchline.
Unfortunately, we now get to spend far too much time in Sherlock's mind, as he battles his demons and still comes out on top. It's now so bad that there was even an entire episode (on which we will get to shortly) spent in the Mind Palace, made with the duel objectives of getting Sherlock and Watson into Victorian costumes and resurrecting Moriarty.
Watson: You realize this is a tiny bit humiliating. Sherlock: It's okay, I'm fine. Now, show me to the stream. Watson: I didn't really mean for you. Sherlock: Look, this is a six. There's no point in my leaving the flat for anything less than a seven. We agreed. Alright go back, show me the grass. Sherlock won't return to our screens until 2017, but the release of the season 4 trailer at San Diego Comic-Con has ensured that the show is being talked about far and wide. A lot of the talk is speculation, of course, as it always is surrounding Sherlock, and at Comic-Con, the Sherlock producers teased fans with three clues to the season which have set tongues wagging.
