Upgrading Hikvision DVR/NVR Firmware To upgrade the firmware of a Hikvision DVR or NVR, please follow the steps below: Insert a USB flash drive into the computer's USB port (Please note that the USB flash drive does not need to be empty; it may contain other files and documents). Locate the appropriate firmware by clicking this link 1. Batch update tool. By using this tool you can update the firmware of more than one device at the same time. 2. Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) tool. The second one is TFTP tool, this is mainly used when we want to flash the IP devices. Trivial File Transfer Protocol ( TFTP) is old technology and easy to use.

There are 3 ways to update a firmware on any Hikvision NVR and DVR, for both of which the instruction is identical: IVMS-4200.
